Meeting Time: 5.00pm onwards
General Information:
Dinner: Heller Street Park has BBQs, tables, shelter, and a nearby toilet block. Bring a fold-up seat just in case.
Bring food to bar-be-que, or ready to eat, as you prefer.
Expect to finish your meal by 7.00pm.
Walk: We will start the walk about 7.00pm, as daylight ends.
Walk Details: Grade S23
- Distance S About 6 km
- Terrain 2 Graded with some steps at steeper sections
- Fitness 3 An initial altitude loss of 160m means a climb back up 160m to the start.
Route:
We will start down the Fantail Trail, then follow the Bridle Trail, fairly level , west to the start of the Firetail Trail.
After a snack break, we will make our way up the trail back to Picnic Point.
The trail zigzags steadily uphill, but mostly easy going, not too steep.
Walk time will be about two hours.

General Walk Information:
The moon will be a little way up in the sky when we start, so we will have a pleasant moonlit walk, clouds permitting.
Water: Carry ample water for two hours, two litres should do unless the night is particularly hot and humid.
Food: Carry snacks for one or two smoko stops.
Light: We should be able to enjoy most of the walk by moonlight only. However, carry a headlight and/or torch with fresh or spare batteries.
Dress: Wear clothes to suit the weather conditions. Consider carrying something warm and some wet weather protection.
Walk conditions: We will be on a graded track and/or vehicle track for the walk, so no scratchy vegetation to plough through.
Insects: Insect repellent is recommended if bities are out on the night.
